Zero Net Energy
Wind and solar power options are the latest buzz among energy conservation building circles in the quest to build or retrofit homes to be Zero Net Energy. HPBA won’t let policymakers forget that hearth products provide valuable zone heating benefits that play an important role in reaching the policy goal of a home producing as much energy as it consumes. Hearth products free up electricity to return to the power grid, so HPBA is working hard to ensure that the marketplace for fireplaces, log sets, and stoves doesn’t significantly shrink in the near future. HPBA takes every opportunity to educate builders and the general public where possible on this important issue, and is working tirelessly in the technical arena to find a reasonable solution to lowering energy consumption.
