This Summer, Create an Outdoor Oasis by Building the Best Backyard Shed

For National Barbecue Month, the Hearth, Patio & Barbecue Association Matches Individuals with the Best Backyard Shed for their Lifestyle

Arlington, Va. – Your backyard. It’s your oasis. Your happy place. Your second living room. It’s the one place each summer you go not only for “me” time – but quality time with your friends and family.

For National Barbecue Month, the Hearth, Patio & Barbecue Association (HPBA) wants to help you make your backyard the best backyard it can be.

Think sheds. No, not your grandparent’s tattered shed filled with a dusty mower and 30-year-old paint brushes. Rather, highly personalized sheds. Intimate covered spaces that keep the sunrays out but bring the summer in. Sheds can come in all shapes and sizes and can be an ideal way to update the backyard.

“Recent studies show 1 in 10 consumers are planning major updates to their backyards this season,” said Jack Goldman, president and CEO, HPBA. “Whether seeking an escape from life’s busy demands or craving a hangout spot to unwind with family and friends, personalized sheds are another great way to customize your backyard space.”

To help you create your best backyard this summer, HPBA offers shed suggestions for all lifestyles:

1. Hobby Shed – From gardening to woodworking, the hobby shed is a functional space with ample room to partake in favorite hobbies. On the inside, this shed is a well-organized work station. The exterior is the talk of the neighborhood featuring bold colors and handmade creations. It’s perfect for a Saturday afternoon - cooking ribs slow and low on your patio while you tackle summer projects.

2. Tapshed – This shed is ideal for the ‘it’s 5 o’clock somewhere’ type. It has it all: the latest and greatest in barbecue technology, a stocked bar, and taproom-inspired décor. The tapshed is everyone’s favorite hangout spot: the place for delicious grilled grub and cool, refreshing drinks.

3. Getaway Shed – At the end of the day, the getaway shed provides peace and quiet. A cozy and relaxing environment, it’s decked out with comfortable décor for a tranquil experience. It’s the ideal shed for introverts who want a place to escape from the hustle and bustle of life. With a grill nearby, you can relax the evening away, watching the sun set while enjoying a juicy steak over the open flame.

4. Soiree Shed – No matter the time of day, everyone is invited to the soiree shed for a barbecue bash! This is an ideal shed for extroverts: it has ample space and all the essentials needed to make the most of the backyard.
