HEARTH & STOVE TECHNICIAN

Warmstone Fireplaces & Designs is seeking applicants for a full-time Hearth and Stove Technician. The position is primarily responsible for installing hearth appliances to code, ensuring all clearances are met and that the job is finished with the detail of a craftsman.

RESPONSIBILITIES: The successful candidate will install wood, gas and stone hearth appliances according to all codes, manufacturer guidelines and company practices; perform jobsite cleanup, ensuring the site looks better than when we arrived; complete post-installation documentation according to company policy; communicate/correct site issues when needed; take part in site visits to assist with estimating and determine job readiness; maintain organized warehouse and vehicle, restocking as needed; occasional product demonstrations with customers; perform chimney inspections/repairs; possess or willingness to obtain industry specific training and certifications; demonstrates effective time management, organization, and multi-tasking skills; arrives to work on time in suitable attire and ready for the tasks ahead; maintains professionalism and tact to portray the company in a positive manner; preserves all company information as confidential and proprietary. Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: High school/GED/HiSET; previous hearth experience is required; masonry and general construction skills are a plus. Must have a strong willingness to learn; comfortable working on roofs; lifting/hauling materials in excess of 50# on a regular basis; maintain a clean driving record; possess excellent verbal, written and customer service skills; ability to handle multiple projects and tasks with high attention to detail; ability and willingness to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays to meet the needs of the business. 6-month introductory period is required.

WAGE/HOURS: Wage depends on experience; full-time, non-supervisory position; Monday through Thursday -some overtime -occasional overnight travel.

JOB SUMMARY:
CSA Group has an immediate opportunity for a Project Manager; reporting to the Program Manager for Fuels and Appliances. The PM is responsible for facilitating the development of standards, leading committees, managing members, and growing membership. You will interact with leading experts within industry, academia and government to develop leading edge standards. The role will require a strong understanding of the various processes and procedures of the company, many of which are mandated under the accreditation of CSA Standards by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and the Standards Council of Canada (SCC). Working with stakeholders and applying industry knowledge, the Project Manager will identify and assess new business opportunities (e.g., new standards, funding, and education/training programs). 

The standards development activities will focus in the energy industry related to the safety, performance, and installation of fueled (gaseous, liquid, and solid) equipment and systems in Canada and the United States.

RESPONSIBILITY:
As a Project Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for:
• Overseeing all aspects of assigned projects within the program area. The role emphasizes management, leadership and soft skills, however requires the ability to speak to complex subjects as a credible professional.
• Establishing timelines for project activities, determining project resource requirements (e.g. funding, personnel support), and assembling overall project schedules.
• Utilizing strong business acumen and planning skills to determine and manage the resources (time, budget, quality, etc.) required to complete the project.
• Developing and maintaining key stakeholder relationships (with academia, regulators, industry etc.).
• Promoting and improving committee efficiency, evaluating member performance and taking action as required.
• The management of standards development activities in existing areas, as well as conducting business development initiatives to expand the portfolio into new areas of the Program.
• Consulting with clients and other areas of CSA Group’s business to support development of standards and impact of standards.
• Liaising with clients, management, Legal and Finance to compose proposals, contracts, and financial analysis for new projects.

EDUCATION:
• Post-secondary education or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience. A Bachelor’s or advanced degree is highly desirable.
• Certified Project Management Professional (PMP) designation is an asset.

EXPERIENCE:
• 3-5 years of experience in Standards Development and/or Project Management. 
• Minimum 3 years of experience in the fuels and appliances industry is an asset.
• Knowledge of relevant standards industry, regulatory environment, government policy, industry landscape, and funding programs/models is an asset. 
• Experience in writing and presenting business and project proposals.

FIREPLACE INSTALLER POSITION

OVERVIEW:   The Engineering Manager oversees the product research and development department, working with a team of skilled engineers.  He/she is responsible for coordinating the complete development of new products, supporting continuous improvement objectives, and pioneering next generation technologies. The Engineering Manager works closely with all departments to define product specs and objectives, maintain timelines and project completion, and to foster an innovative culture.  Some Essential Functions and Key Qualifications include:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

·      Holds overall accountability for all product development projects

·      Evaluates and approves designs based on quality, functionality, manufacturability, and cost

·      Guides project activities and goals of the full product development team

·      Provides design and engineering support on an as-needed basis

·      Maintains knowledge of industry standards and regulations- anticipates and manages for future changes 

·      Investigates applicability of emerging technologies and trends

·      Manages the product improvement and engineering change processes

·      Supports fabrication of functional prototypes, performance testing, and evaluation as needed

·      Oversees completeness, accuracy, and security of product certification testing & bill of materials docs.

·      Updates  engineering software, equipment, and tools as necessary and manages appropriate trainings

·      Provides continuous staff dialog and feedback, evaluating and supporting staff’s professional development

·      Supports  manufacturing with communications and training regarding product design changes

·      Establishes and maintains best engineering practices for team’s consistent and accurate work

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:

·      Experienced in supervision of staff and project management (at least 2 years in a supervisory role)

·      Bachelor's degree and  5+ years of applied engineering experience with increasing responsibility

·      Confident in leadership skills including problem solving, analysis, clear decision making, and various communication/interpersonal skills 

·      Proven ability to plan, prioritize, & organize project tasks with an appropriate sense of urgency; maintaining consistent follow through to balance innovation with product schedules

·      Established mechanical engineering aptitude with demonstrated mechanical, metalworking, welding skills

·      Experience in various welding applications 

·      Fluency with 3D modeling and detailing software- SolidWorks preferred

·      Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite

·      Experienced in use of an ERP system- preferably SAP

·      Able to lift up to 50 LBS and work with various tools in a manufacturing environment.
