Government Affairs Academy 2011

Government Affairs Academy 2011

After a one-year hiatus, the Government Affairs Academy was held this May for a second time in Washington, D.C. The 2011 GAA featured message delivery training and simulated media interviews, as well as seminars and exercises in establishing a grassroots network, giving testimony at a government hearing, and lobbying elected officials. The GAA not only trained attendees how to effectively lobby at the state and federal level, but also provided an opportunity for them to utilize their newly-learned skills during congressional office visits. By having meetings with the staff of elected officials who represent them in both the House and Senate, Academy attendees were able to put into practice everything they learned throughout the intensive four-day grassroots training boot camp.
