Due to the overwhelming success of 2006, HPBA and the Government Affairs Committee decided to expand the Academy to 30 participants. Besides lobbying and grassroots training, the Academy participants were able to learn from the best in the fields of: media relations, state lobbying, regulatory reform and how to work and collaborate with government entities, like the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA).

The Academy was held in Kansas City, Kansas in June.
